Our Services

Horological Services

Three structured service pathways — each adapted to the condition and history of the piece, carried out with appropriate attention to horological convention.

Calibre Overhaul — movement disassembly and service

Calibre Overhaul

A complete service pathway for mechanical, automatic, and small-complication calibres. The movement is fully disassembled, cleaned through staged ultrasonic processes, inspected under magnification, and reassembled with correctly chosen lubrication and multi-position regulation.

  • Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
  • High-magnification component inspection
  • Multi-position timing regulation
  • Multi-day rate observation
Sealing system service — water resistance testing

Sealing System Service

A focused service to restore and verify a watch's sealing integrity. All gasket positions — crown, pushers, case back, and crystal seat — are assessed, renewed with correctly specified components, and tested under calibrated pressure equipment.

  • Full gasket assessment and renewal
  • Dry and wet pressure testing
  • Written test result documentation
  • Suited for dive and sport references
Long-form restoration — detailed horological work

Long-Form Restoration

An extended programme for pieces requiring deeper attention — long-stored watches, impact-damaged calibres, or recently acquired timepieces without service documentation. Conservation is favoured over refinishing on patinated surfaces. Owners are consulted at each major decision point.

  • Full movement service included
  • Case and bracelet conservation
  • Photographic stage documentation
  • Written condition report on completion

Why Pelangi Wira

Considered Horological Practice

Thorough Documentation

Each piece is photographed and examined in writing before any work begins. Owners receive a clear picture of the watch's condition, and records are maintained throughout the process.

Professional Timing Equipment

Regulation is carried out across multiple positions on dedicated timing machines. Rate observations run over several days before any piece is returned.

Horological-Grade Processes

Ultrasonic cleaning uses staged processes with horological-grade solvents — not general workshop substitutes. Lubrication follows manufacturer contact-surface specifications.

Owner Consultation

Particularly in restoration work, owners are consulted at each decision point. No significant intervention proceeds without a clear discussion and owner agreement.

Calibrated Pressure Testing

Water resistance testing uses calibrated equipment with both dry and wet stages. A written test result is provided, not simply a verbal assurance.

Conservation Over Refinishing

Patina and surface character are respected. Where the owner wishes to preserve original finishing, this is the default approach — not a special request requiring justification.

A Timepiece Worth Wearing
Is Worth Attending To Properly

Whether your watch is due a routine service or requires careful restoration, we welcome an initial conversation. Bring it in, describe what you've noticed, and we'll assess from there — without pressure.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

How do I know if my watch needs a service?
Common indicators include a noticeable shift in daily rate, the seconds hand running unevenly, a rotor that sounds different from usual, or simply the passage of three to five years since the last service. If you've recently acquired a piece without service documentation, that's also a reasonable prompt to have it assessed. We begin every intake with a written examination of current condition — you're not committed to any work until we've discussed what we find.
How long does a calibre overhaul typically take?
For a standard calibre overhaul, the process from intake to collection typically runs four to six weeks. This includes the full disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly sequence, followed by a multi-day rate observation before the piece is ready. Long-form restoration programmes carry timelines of ten to sixteen weeks depending on the depth of work and whether sourcing of replacement components is involved. We keep owners informed at each stage.
Do you work on watches from all brands?
We work on mechanical and automatic calibres from a wide range of origins — Swiss, Japanese, German, and others. The intake examination helps us assess whether we have the appropriate technical documentation and tooling for a particular movement before any commitment is made. We're direct about the scope of what we can take on and won't accept a piece we're not well-placed to serve properly.
What is included in the sealing system service?
The sealing system service covers assessment and renewal of all gasket positions — crown tube, pusher seals, case back, and crystal seat — using correctly specified replacement components. Threaded surfaces are cleaned and lubricated where appropriate. Following reassembly, we conduct both dry pressure testing and, for pieces rated for water exposure, wet pressure testing on calibrated equipment. A written test result is provided with every returned piece.
Will you refinish the case and bracelet during restoration?
Our default in restoration work is conservation rather than refinishing. Patinated surfaces and original finishing are treated as things to preserve unless the owner specifically requests otherwise. If you have views either way, we discuss them at the consultation stage — there is no default assumption that polishing is desirable or expected.
How are pricing indications given?
The prices listed on our site are starting indications for each service type. A firm quotation is issued after the intake examination, once we've assessed the actual condition of the movement and identified any components requiring renewal. We don't proceed with work until a quotation has been accepted. For restoration programmes, we flag any significant costs as they emerge and consult the owner before continuing.
