When the Watch Comes Back
Most of the people who bring their watches to Pelangi Wira come through word of mouth. These are some of the accounts they've shared.

Brought in my father's ETA 2836 that hadn't been serviced in at least eight years. Rate was off badly and the rotor drag had gotten quite pronounced. The intake process was thorough — I received a written breakdown of condition before agreeing to anything. Came back about five weeks later running within four seconds a day. The difference is noticeable from the first wind. Very satisfied with the level of documentation throughout.

Sent my dive watch in for a sealing service ahead of a trip to Tioman. The team was clear that they'd be testing to 100m dry and then wet — and the written result they sent back with the watch was more detailed than I expected. Turnaround was just under two weeks. The watch went to 18 metres without incident. Only minor thing — getting an appointment slot took a few days, but that's understandable given the volume they manage.

This is a serious workshop. I brought in a 1968 Omega Constellation that came to me from my uncle without any paperwork or service history. Razif walked me through exactly what he found at the intake — worn pivots, a tired mainspring, and surface oxidation inside the case. He was clear about what was reversible and what wasn't. The restoration took fourteen weeks in total, but the written progress updates kept me informed throughout. The result is remarkable — the watch now runs and wears as it should.

I was anxious about having my grandmother's Longines serviced — it had visible patina on the dial that I didn't want touched. Amirul was very matter-of-fact about it: conservation is their starting point, not refinishing. They noted the dial condition in the intake record and agreed that nothing would be done to it without my sign-off. Came back beautifully serviced, patina intact. The watch keeps time properly for the first time in years.

Brought in two watches — my daily Seiko and a Grand Seiko that I'd been nervous to service anywhere local. The team was straightforward: they assessed both, gave me a clear quotation for each, and didn't upsell anything I hadn't asked about. The Grand Seiko required a part that took three weeks to source, and they kept me updated. Both came back running properly. Pricing was in line with what I'd researched for this level of work.

I've used general watch repair shops before and the difference here is quite evident. The intake alone is more thorough than what most places do for the whole job. The fact that the timing data comes back on paper, and not just verbal confirmation that "it's good now", makes a real difference to how much I trust the result. I'll be bringing my Panerai in next — something I wouldn't have considered doing locally before visiting Pelangi Wira.

Detailed Service Stories
Case Study 01 — Calibre Overhaul
A Vintage Citizen Automatic, Untouched for Eleven Years
The Challenge
The owner's daily wear Citizen Cosmotron had been running noticeably slow for two years and was finally stopping mid-day. The owner had no service records and was uncertain whether the movement was worth the cost of a full overhaul.
Our Approach
Intake examination revealed a worn mainspring and two pivot tips showing fatigue under magnification. We documented the findings in writing, discussed the options clearly — the owner decided to proceed. The full disassembly, cleaning, and mainspring replacement was completed over four weeks, followed by six days of timing observation across multiple positions.
The Result
The watch returned running at +6 seconds per day in the crown-up position — within the original design tolerance. The owner described it as "a different watch" in terms of winding reserve and rate consistency. Service timeline: 5 weeks.

An Inherited Rolex Precision, No Service History, Impact Damage
The Challenge
A 1975 Rolex Precision had been left to the owner following a family bereavement. The movement was stopping intermittently, the crown had developed significant play, and the case showed evidence of a past impact that had distorted the crown tube. No service documentation existed.
Our Approach
Full intake with photographic record across the case and movement. The crown tube was carefully reformed — replacement would have altered the case character significantly. Movement disassembly revealed a damaged balance staff from the impact. We sourced a period-correct replacement through horological supply channels. The owner was consulted at each major decision, including the question of case and bracelet polishing — they opted for conservation only.
The Result
The watch returned with a written condition report, photographic documentation of all stages, and passed both dry and wet pressure tests. Rate settled at -4 seconds per day over the observation period. Service timeline: 13 weeks including parts sourcing.

A Dive Watch Fleet: Three Pieces Before a Liveaboard Trip
The Challenge
A collector brought in three dive references ahead of a two-week liveaboard trip — all had been in regular use but none had received a sealing service in over three years. He wanted written confirmation of their pressure ratings before using them in open water.
Our Approach
Each watch was assessed independently. One case back showed slight thread wear that required careful attention. All gaskets were renewed using correctly specified replacements per model. Dry pressure testing was conducted first across all three, then wet pressure testing to the stated depth rating of each piece. Written test results were prepared for each watch separately.
The Result
All three passed pressure testing to their respective ratings. The owner used them throughout the trip without incident. He noted that having written test records was useful documentation for his insurance policy. Service timeline: 10 days for all three.
