Our Service Pathways
Three Considered Ways
to Attend to a Timepiece
Each service pathway is structured around what the piece actually needs — from a standard interval service to a full restoration programme for a long-neglected or damaged watch.

How We Structure Service Work
Every piece that comes through the workshop begins with the same process regardless of which service is ultimately selected: a documented intake examination. This examination establishes the current condition of the movement and case, notes what the owner has observed, and forms the basis for the quotation and work plan that follows.
The three service pathways below are distinct in scope and timeline, but share the same underlying discipline: horological-grade cleaning processes, calibrated testing equipment, and a multi-day rate observation before any piece is returned. The choice between them depends on the condition of the watch, its history, and the owner's priorities.
Photographic documentation at intake and all key stages
Multi-day rate observation on timing equipment before return
Written intake record and quotation before any work begins
Service 01
Calibre Overhaul
A complete service pathway for mechanical, automatic, and small-complication calibres, following horological convention. The watch is documented through photographs and a written intake examination noting current rate behaviour, water resistance condition, and any owner-noted concerns.
The movement is then fully disassembled, with each component individually cleaned through staged ultrasonic processes using horological-grade solvents, inspected under high magnification, and renewed where wear has progressed beyond operating tolerance. Mainsprings, pivot ends, and pallet stones receive focused attention. Reassembly follows with carefully chosen lubrication on each contact surface, regulation across multiple positions on professional timing equipment, and a multi-day rate observation.
Full disassembly with individual component inspection under magnification
Staged ultrasonic cleaning with horological-grade solvents
Correct lubrication per contact surface following manufacturer specification
Six-position regulation on professional timing machine
Multi-day rate observation before piece is released
Process Sequence

01
Written intake examination — rate, water resistance, owner observations noted
-
02
Complete disassembly with photographic record at start and key stages
-
03
Individual component inspection and identification of worn or fatigued parts
-
04
Staged ultrasonic cleaning — solvents, sequence, and temperature are specified
-
05
Reassembly with correct surface lubrication, then multi-position regulation
-
06
Multi-day rate observation — release follows settled timing behaviour
Typical timeline
4 – 6 weeks from intake to collection
Process Sequence
-
01
Assessment of all gasket positions — crown, pushers, case back, crystal seat
-
02
Inspection of surrounding case surfaces for damage or distortion
-
03
Gasket renewal with correctly specified replacement components for each position
-
04
Threaded surface cleaning and lubrication where appropriate
-
05
Dry pressure testing — followed by wet pressure testing where rating warrants
-
06
Written test result prepared and accompanies the returned watch
Typical timeline
1 – 2 weeks from intake to collection
Service 02
Sealing System Service
A focused service designed to restore and verify the integrity of a watch's sealing system. The work begins with assessment of all gasket positions — crown, pushers, case back, and crystal seat — and inspection of the surrounding case surfaces for damage or distortion.
All gaskets are renewed with correctly specified components, and threaded surfaces are cleaned and lubricated where appropriate. Following reassembly, the watch is subjected to dry pressure testing and, where appropriate to its stated rating, wet pressure testing using calibrated equipment. A written test result accompanies the returned watch. Particularly suited for dive references, sport watches, and timepieces where water exposure is part of regular use — generally every two to three years.
All gasket positions assessed and renewed — not just the obvious ones
Correctly specified replacement gaskets for each position
Calibrated dry and wet pressure testing with written result
Suitable as a standalone service between full overhaul intervals
Service 03
Long-Form Restoration
An extended programme for watches requiring deeper attention beyond a routine service — typically pieces stored without service for many years, suffered impact damage, or recently acquired without service documentation. The programme combines full movement service, case and bracelet attention with conservation in mind, gasket renewal and pressure testing, dial and hands review, and where appropriate, sourcing of correct replacement components.
The owner is consulted at each major decision point, with conservation favoured over refinishing on patinated surfaces. A photographic record covers each major stage, and a written condition report is prepared upon completion. Timelines run from ten to sixteen weeks depending on the depth of work and parts availability. Suited for important pieces and inherited watches.
Full movement service — disassembly, cleaning, regulation included
Case and bracelet attended with conservation orientation
Dial and hands reviewed — condition noted, alternatives discussed if needed
Photographic record of all major stages, written condition report on completion
Owner consulted at each significant decision — no surprises on collection
Programme Stages
-
01
Full written and photographic intake assessment — condition baseline established
-
02
Movement disassembly, cleaning, component inspection and renewal as needed
-
03
Owner consultation — major decisions discussed before proceeding
-
04
Case, bracelet, dial and hands reviewed — conservation approach applied
-
05
Gasket renewal and full pressure testing with written result

Written Intake
Every piece receives a written examination before work is authorised. You see the findings before committing.
High-Magnification Inspection
Component inspection uses appropriate magnification. Pivot condition, stone wear, and surface fatigue are assessed properly.
Multi-Day Rate Observation
Regulation is followed by a multi-day observation period on timing equipment. We don't release a watch the same day it's regulated.
Owner Consultation
Significant decisions are discussed with owners before they're made. No work proceeds on assumption.
